This is a five-week block course especially for new mothers. Classes are held on a Sunday morning so that you can leave baby in the capable hands of your partner or other care-giver and take a little time out for yourself!
The classes focus on rebuilding and maintaining structural integrity, relieving muscular tension and promoting emotional wellness.
The class is open to all new mothers, anytime from 6 weeks post birth provided there were no complications. If you are unsure of the suitability of the class, contact Barbara to check.
Meet and connect with other mothers
Being a new mother is a wonderful experience, however, it can also be a daunting and lonely time. These classes will give you the opportunity to spend time with like minded women who are experiencing similar joys and challenges.
Strengthen and stabilise
Pregnancy and childbirth change our bodies on the inside, often, we feel weaker with less core strength than before conception. These classes will introduce you to yoga postures and breathing techniques that will help tone from the inside out.
Relieve muscular tension
The physical challenge of lifting, carrying and feeding your baby places stress on your body that can manifest as tension in neck, shoulders, and back, sometimes even causing injury. We will introduce mindful movement to gently dissolve muscular tension, improve mobility of the upper spine and promote good alignment and postural habits.
Promote emotional balance
You’re probably realising by now that being a new mother can be emotionally challenging. Yoga is scientifically proven to reduce symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression – all common emotions experienced by new mothers. These classes will help you develop strategies for self-regulating negative emotions and rebuilding a positive relationship with self.
Sundays 10.00am – 11.15am
