Lead Trainer, Barbara Coley is an extremely experienced and skilled yoga teacher with a passion for educating practitioners and yoga teachers in the art of sound yoga practices.

Barbara has been practising yoga since 1992 and teaching since 2007. She has deepened her understanding of yoga, and continues to do so, through extensive studies with A.G. Mohan and Indra Mohan of Svastha Yoga & Ayurveda. She has also studied online with a number of renowned international teachers specialising in various fields including Vina Shah, Jean Campbell, Jivana Heyman, Amber Karnes, Tom Myers, Marlysa Sullivan, Amy Wheeler, Dianne Bondy, Tiffany Cruickshank, and more

Barbara commenced her study of  Yoga Therapy in 2010 with the Mohans son, Dr Ganesh Mohan and is now honoured to teach the Svastha Yoga Therapy Program in Aotearoa. She has been a practicing Yoga Therapist since 2016 and is certified with with the International Association of Yoga Therapists, Yoga Australia and Yoga New Zealand.

Barbara’s approach to teaching yoga is to encourage her students to move and breathe in a way that is both functional and easeful, encouraging mind-body integration, and cultivating nervous system balance and physical health.

In her role as an educator, Barbara promotes ‘mental health awareness’ as a fundamental skill necessary for all yoga teachers. She ncourages teachers & trainee teachers to question dogmatic approaches to teaching methods and alignment cues and facilitates an investigation of functional anatomy & movement skills.

Barbara believes that yoga should be inclusive and accessible to all and promotes a sense of community in her classes and in her trainings.

In her spare time you will find her adventuring with her Border Collie, Colin –  at the beach or on bush walks, gardening, and spending time with friends & family.

Teaching Assistant, Emmilee Laurie-Fendall is a New Zealand Yoga New Zealand level 2 registered teacher with over five years teaching experience in Australia and New Zealand. Her passion is using the tools of yoga to help people move well, breathe well, and live well.

Emmilee took her first yoga teacher training in Thailand in 2016. This set her on the path of continuing yoga education, and she has since completed certificates in health science through the Southern Institute of technology while continuing to add yoga trainings to her CV becoming certified in Yin Yoga and Prenatal yoga. As well taking many Therapeutic Yoga Modules through Svastha Yoga.

Emmilee currently lives in Central Otago where she teaches group classes, small therapeutic courses, and private yoga. When she is not teaching or practising yoga, she can be found outside; trail running, biking, tramping or snowboarding.
