200 hour Yoga Teacher Training
Yoga for Svastha Teacher Training & Personal Wellbeing Program
We are offering two formats for our yoga teacher training in 2022. Part time study in Auckland March – September, 2022 or 3-week intensive in Rarotonga May/June, 2022.

The Svastha Yoga Teacher Training program qualifies you as a yoga teacher at the 200-hour certification level. It offers you a deep understanding of how to teach with sensitivity to students of all ages, abilities, stages of life, and gender identification.
The training has a maximum number of 10 participants. This ensures personal attention and mentoring throughout and allows an opportunity for deep exploration into the essence of yoga, to having all of your questions answered, without getting lost in a crowd.

Recognised by both Yoga Alliance and Yoga New Zealand, this yoga teacher training takes place over nine months and includes:
9 x weekend intensives (Saturday & Sunday)
Personal mentoring sessions
The Svastha Yoga Teacher Training program is designed to be manageable to complete around other commitments and is a worthwhile financial and time investment. Over the course you will study:
- Practice & theory of asana, prānāyāma, meditation & yogic mindfulness.
- Yoga as a holistic practice for well-being body & mind.
- Yoga psychology based on the Yogasūtra-s of Patañjali- applying the ancient wisdom of yoga to modern living.
- Functional anatomy & movement skills.
- Nervous system function & balance
Skills in teaching group classes & one-to-one sessions safely, effectively, accessibly & inclusively.
- Yoga and womens health.
- Conscious communication for yoga teaching.
- An introduction to the ancient science of Ayurveda.

Teacher Barbara Coley is an experienced yoga teacher, yoga therapist, and a dedicated yoga practitioner for 30+ years. Her mission is to educate yoga practitioners in the art and science of sound yoga practices, so that they can help themselves and others on a path to personal well-being and life practice.
Our program is open to anyone wishing to deepen their knowledge in yoga and there are no formal prerequisites to enrolling, but we suggest you have been practising yoga in some form for at least 12 months.
Graduates of our 200-hour program then have a pathway to 350-hour registration, with Yoga New Zealand (Level 2 Teaching qualification) by completing three 50-hour continuing education programs at Svastha Yoga. This program is a solid foundation for continuing studies with the Svastha Yoga Therapy Program.

1) 9 x Weekend Intensives: Saturday – Sunday 8.00am – 5.00pm daily

2) One-to-One mentoring
- 3 sessions throughout the program at mutually convenient timing.
3) Directed Home Study and Assignments
- approx 1.5 – 2 hours per week
TBA – dependent on numbers – will be in the Central Auckland area.
- Full refund of monies paid, less non refundable deposit, for withdrawal prior to the earlybird date
- 25% refund of monies paid, less non-refundable deposit, for withdrawal after early bird date and prior to the commencement of the program

Barbara Coley is an extremely experienced and skilled yoga teacher with a passion for educating practitioners and yoga teachers in the art of sound yoga practices.
Barbara has been practising yoga since 1992 and teaching since 2007. She has deepened her understanding of yoga, and continues to do so, through extensive studies with A.G. Mohan and Indra Mohan of Svastha Yoga & Ayurveda. She has also studied online with a number of renowned international teachers specialising in various fields including Vina Shah, Jean Campbell, Jivana Heyman, Amber Karnes, Tom Myers, Marlysa Sullivan, Amy Wheeler, Dianne Bondy, Tiffany Cruickshank, and more.
Barbara has studied Yoga Therapy intensively [since 2010] with Dr Ganesh Mohan, the Mohans son, and has been a practicing Certified Yoga Therapist since 2016. She is certified with with the International Association of Yoga Therapists, Yoga Australia and Yoga New Zealand.
Barbara’s approach to teaching yoga is to encourage her students to move and breathe in a way that is both functional and easeful, encouraging mind-body integration, and cultivating nervous system balance and physical health.
In her role as an educator, Barbara promotes ‘mental health awareness’ as a fundamental skill necessary for all yoga teachers in order to serve their communities well. She encourages teachers & trainee teachers to question dogmatic approaches to teaching methods and alignment cues and facilitates an investigation of mindful teaching, functional anatomy & functional movement skills.
Barbara believes that yoga should be inclusive and accessible to all and promotes a sense of community in her classes and in her trainings.
