Barbara is a personal student of A.G. Mohan and Indra Mohan of Svastha Yoga and Ayurveda, and a senior teacher of the Svastha Yoga worldwide organisation.
After some years, of practicing yoga via studio classes and occasional workshops, I was fortunate enough to find myself in India studying with my now teachers A.G. Mohan and Indra Mohan. It was during this 2 month experience that my understanding of yoga deepened to a point, where it became an integral part of my life and I was inspired to share the practice with others.
I managed and taught from a studio in Auckland for the following 10 years, however, in 2016, I made the decision to give up teaching studio classes and focus my attention on the areas I am most passionate about – personalised yoga, yoga therapy and yoga education.
I have been teaching the Svastha Yoga & Ayurveda Teacher Training program in New Zealand since 2008 and facilitate and co-teach the Svastha Yoga Therapy Program with Dr Ganesh Mohan. I am a certified yoga therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapy (IAYT) and registered at the 500-hour level with Yoga Alliance.
Fundamentally, yoga is a practice of self-care. It has sustained and inspired me through life’s inevitable ups and downs and it is my passion to share the practice with others so that they too may integrate the benefits of a sound, rational practice into their own lives.
I am eternally grateful for the support and guidance of my teachers A. G. Mohan and Indra Mohan, their son Ganesh and daughter Nitya.
“The power for change on a personal level is what I consider one of the greatest gifts of yoga, and is the message I wish to pass on to my students.”
